Halloween Lands On A Saturday

Here is the short version: in 2026, Halloween falls on a Saturday, which makes October 24 and October 31 the two biggest house party nights of the fall in New Jersey. Costume parties that would normally get squeezed onto a weeknight get a full Saturday night instead, and the hosts who book a bar now get the date they actually want.

A Halloween party is also the easiest party of the year to throw at home. The costumes are the entertainment, the yard is the venue, and the only thing missing is a bar that does not require the host to stand behind a folding table all night. That is the gap the Compass trailer fills, and the fall backyard party guide already covers the rest of the season around it.

Setting Up The Yard For After Dark

The trailer after dark. On Halloween, this is the brightest spot in the yard.

Sunset lands before six on Halloween, so a Halloween party is a night party from the first guest. Three things make the yard work. First, the trailer: it brings its own power and lighting, and the lit serving window becomes the glowing centerpiece the whole party orbits. Second, the fire pit: put it across the yard from the bar so guests circulate between warm and poured instead of clumping in one corner, with at least ten feet between flame and anything the wind can carry, costumes included. Third, light the path between them with string lights or stake lights, because a yard full of capes and masks in the dark is a yard full of tripping hazards.

The trailer needs a flat spot about two parking spaces long, a driveway works as well as a lawn, and ground protection mats go down the same way they did at our backyard party setup. Nothing about Halloween changes the setup. It just changes what everyone is wearing.

A Themed Menu, Built With You

Every Compass menu is designed with the host before the party, and Halloween is the one night where going all in on a theme is the whole point. The drinks get named for your party, your costumes, or your crew, printed on the menu board out front, and there is always a zero proof option so nobody is left holding water. Compass has done this before: the wizard themed party ran a fully themed menu, named drinks and all, on a backyard Saturday in August.

The menu conversation happens a couple of weeks out, and the BYOB guide explains how that menu turns into a shopping list you buy and Compass pours.

The Drink Math For A Night Party

Halloween parties start later and run later than summer parties, so plan for four hours of bar service rather than five, and remember that cold weather and costumes both push guests toward the bar more than you think. The alcohol calculator does the beer, wine, and spirits math from your guest count and hours, and Compass sizes the final list to your actual menu. Buy early. Liquor stores feel Halloween weekend the same way they feel the Fourth of July.

The Last Two Saturdays Go First

October 24 and October 31 are the dates to watch, and both are already competing with fall weddings and the start of holiday party season, which the holiday party playbook covers. If your Halloween party has a date, check it now. Bartender only service starts at $550, trailer packages are quoted to your night, and the form takes thirty seconds.

Halloween Party FAQ

Yes. Every Compass menu is designed with the host ahead of time, and a Halloween party is a natural fit for a themed one: drinks named for your party, your costumes, or your crew, printed on the menu board, with a zero proof option included.
Yes. The trailer brings its own power and lighting, so it pours just as easily at ten at night as at two in the afternoon, and the lit serving window usually becomes the brightest spot in the yard.
The trailer's awning covers the serving window, so light rain rarely changes anything. For a real storm, Compass can provide a tent for a small additional fee, and we will work with you on placement, timing, or rescheduling.
Now. Halloween falls on a Saturday in 2026, so October 24 and October 31 are the two biggest party nights of the fall and both book first. Weeknight and Friday dates leave more room.
Bartender only service starts at $550. Trailer packages are quoted to your date, location, guest count, and hours. Compass runs BYOB, so the alcohol is a separate, retail priced purchase from our shopping list.
