A Birthday With A Heat Ladder

Some birthday menus want frozen drinks and umbrellas. Jesse wanted heat. The board we printed for the night at Somay Memorial Hall ran exactly two drinks, ranked like a hot sauce shelf: a jalapeno margarita on housemade jalapeno syrup, marked with a single flame, and a habanero margarita marked with two. Both were built on our housemade sour, which is the difference between a spicy margarita and a dare in a cup.

The Fire Hall That Throws Parties

John H. Somay Memorial Hall is the Southard Fire Company’s hall in Howell Township, named for a longtime chief, and it has quietly become one of inland Monmouth County’s go-to rental venues for birthdays, showers, and receptions. The trailer set up just outside the hall, awnings up over both serving windows, white mums in mason jars on the rail, and the neon compass glowing against the reclaimed wood as the evening light came down. A spicy margarita station parked outside a fire hall: the jokes wrote themselves, and yes, everyone made them.

The Bar Arrives Whole

One of the best parts of a hall party is what the host does not have to do. The entire bar arrived behind the truck an hour before guests: trailer, bartenders, ice, syrups, garnish, cups, menu boards. It parked, leveled, opened, and poured, with nothing borrowed from the hall but a parking spot. When the night ended, the bar drove away and the hall looked exactly as it did before.

Leveled At The Hall

Working a rented hall means fitting into someone else’s parking lot cleanly. The trailer backed into its corner of the Somay Memorial Hall lot, dropped its leveling jacks onto wood pads, and was pouring within the hour, with the hall’s brick and red awning as the backdrop. Venue coordination on placement and insurance certificates happened before the day, so setup was just setup.

Inland Counts Too

Howell sits square in our range: twenty minutes from home base in Toms River, an easy run to Point Pleasant and the shore, and on the way to everything from Freehold to Jackson. If a themed board like Jesse’s sounds right for your party, the signature cocktail guide covers how we build menus with personality, and the BYOB guide explains how the shopping list works for a hall party.

Howell Birthday Questions

Every menu board is printed for the event, and this one led with Happy Birthday Jesse! above the drinks. The guest of honor picks the theme, we design the cocktails around it, and the framed menu makes it official at both ends of the bar.
Jesse’s board was proof: a jalapeno margarita on housemade jalapeno syrup with one flame on the menu, and a habanero margarita with two. Both ran on our housemade sour, so the heat sat on top of a real margarita instead of replacing it.
Yes. At Somay Memorial Hall in Howell the trailer worked from the parking area just outside the hall, running on its own battery power and water. We coordinate placement and certificates of insurance directly with the venue as part of every booking.
All of Howell Township and the surrounding towns, from Freehold and Jackson out to the shore. The trailer is based in Toms River, so inland Monmouth and Ocean County dates are an easy run. Check your date at (908) 481-5819.
