- The Compass trailer worked its first stadium tailgate at MetLife, parked at Lot J3 before the Giants hosted the Cardinals on October 4.
- Three firsts in one Sunday: first stadium event, first Bergen County pour, longest road trip yet at about 75 miles each way.
- The menu ran three drinks named for the day: Crab Legs And Football, the Big Blue Refresher, and the Kickoff Latte, two of them zero proof.
- Tailgates are now a bookable event. Bring a lot number and a kickoff time.
From Toms River To Lot J3
A little therapy for a Giants Sunday. That was the caption on the day, and honestly, with the season Big Blue has had, a bar in the parking lot qualifies as healthcare. The Compass trailer rolled out of Toms River before sunrise, covered about 75 miles of Parkway and Turnpike, and backed into Lot J3 at MetLife Stadium with the serving windows open long before the Giants and Cardinals kicked off at one.
This was a first three times over: the trailer's first stadium tailgate, its first event in Bergen County, and the longest road trip it has made since the launch party opened the serving windows back in May. The trailer that started the season pouring in backyards finished a Sunday parked under an NFL stadium.
A Trailer In Giants Colors
The wood paneled interior got a full gameday makeover: an NY sign on the back wall, signed Giants photos in frames, a Phil Simms bobblehead presiding over the menu board, and a cooler autographed by a Giant riding along for good luck. The bones of the trailer did what they always do. The awning went up, the ice bins filled, and the stainless bar top gave a parking lot full of fans somewhere to lean between trips to the grill.
Tailgates turn out to be a natural fit for the way the trailer already works. It carries its own power and water, it needs exactly one parking spot beyond the group's own, and it is built to serve waves of people who show up all at once and drift away by kickoff. The same rhythm as a block party, just with more face paint.
Gameday In Frames
A stadium lot is a different kind of room, and the trailer had never been photographed in one. Some of the day, in order of appearance: the trailer parked and open, the crab leg up close, the latte under the neon, a round of shots going down the bar, a slice landing next to a drink, and the crowd that gathered once the lot filled in.
Tailgates Are Now A Thing We Do
The football season set is complete: a fantasy draft party in August, a pep rally pour for the Warriors, and now a stadium tailgate in October. Group tailgates, corporate tailgates, season ticket crews that want to stop hauling folding tables of warm cans: this is a bookable event now, and fall Sundays are the calendar to watch.
A company tailgate runs on the same playbook as any offsite in the corporate event guide, and for everything at home, the fall backyard guide covers the season the trailer is already deep into. If your crew has a lot number and a kickoff time, we can take it from there.
